Editorial
Dear Colleague,
Welcome to our new-look journal Gynaecology Forum, which aims to keep you well
informed by presenting information from a broad range of gynaecological topics in an
up-to-date format.
Many of you will be familiar with the predecessors of this journal - 'Fertility Control
Reviews' and 'Gynaecology Snapshot'. Those of you who received sponsored copies of these
publications will now receive Gynaecology Forum quarterly.
We have taken the relationship between contraception and cancer as the theme for our first
issue. It was back in 1992 when 'Fertility Control Reviews' first addressed this topic,
and there has been much discussion and publication activity since. Thus, we thought it
timely to provide an update of one of the most important aspects of our professional
activities. Dr Phil Hannaford has brought together an impressive international team of
authors to discuss a series of questions which face us all in everyday practice.
Gynaecology Forum incorporates several features to make keeping up-to-date an easy
goal to achieve: for example, review articles not only review the evidence relating to the
topic under discussion, but also present opinions as to the clinical significance and
implications of the information at hand.
A 'Forum' is a place for argument and discussion and we chose this name purposefully as
your input into future issues is welcome.
Visit our website: http://www.medforum.nl/gynfo and communicate any questions, comments or
suggestions. Planned future topics for this journal include hormone replacement therapy,
miscarriage, the pill scare, polycystic ovaries, and ectopic pregnancy.
